English

In this article, the combustion chamber of a scramjet with the presence of cavity geometry and injection upstream is investigated in two dimensions using Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. The used turbulence model is the standard K-epsilone method and the combustion is done in a non-premixed manner. The performed validation shows a good agreement with the experimental data. In this work, the effect of fuel injection angle on key combustion parameters such as total pressure loss and combustion efficiency has been investigated, and in order to weight these two parameters simultaneously, the overall performance parameter has been defined, which is the ratio of combustion efficiency to total pressure loss. The results show that among the injection angles of 45, 90, and 135 degrees, injection with an angle of 45 has the same combustion efficiency as other modes. However, it produces a lower total pressure loss and is therefore the best choice among the injection angles considered.
