English

In satellite communications, despite the high cost of bandwidth, the signal transmitted over the purchased bandwidth becomes accessible for everyone and is vulnerable with potentially malicious actions. To tackle this problem, two types of processing provide an undetectable high-rate communication link under the available satellite spectrum: Satellite spectrum cancellation and spread spectrum link. In this paper, a novel framework “spectrum cancellation-based high-rate link (SC-based HRL)” is proposed, in which the satellite spectrum as an interference signal is regenerated utilizing the QR-decomposition-recursive least square (QRD-RLS) algorithm and then cancelled from the received signal. After that, the high-rate data is received under the cancelled spectrum by exploiting a processing composed of: (1) the channel coding Bose, Chaudhuri, and Hocquenghem (BCH)+Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC), (2) the direct sequence spread spectrum. Using the SC-based HRL, a data transmission rate of at least 1.25 Mbps can be achieved when the received power is 12 dB below the noise level. Consequently, the link remains undetectable while enabling online video transmission with acceptable quality. To the best of our knowledge, such a framework has not been presented in the previous references. Numerical results and implementation of the SC-based HRL on the FPGA Kintex7 410T confirm the proposed analyses.
